The sun was shining, its Star Wars Day, there was nothing pressing that needed to be done, and delicious brownies were calling my name from the kitchen counter. Today was going to be great, relaxing even. Then it happens. Luke shows up out of nowhere and blows up the Death Star!

Before we get into the catastrophe that is this morning let me say this, I love my children more than anything on this Earth. Nothing will ever change that. Today, I guess you could say, is just one of those days that reminded me. *Deep Breath* First, while I was trying to sit and eat some breakfast, my daughters find my reading glasses and decide those would make a great toy for Daniel to play with. I honestly do not even remember what caused me to get up and notice what they had done, but lets just say I was less than pleased to see this. It wasn’t a great start, however I was still hopeful for a relatively smooth and relaxing day. Unfortunately, this was not the case.

Next, I need to start getting ready for the day (showering and such). While I am doing this, the girls get into a drawer they are not supposed to be in, and find some markers. Sharpie Markers. I think we all know where this is going. Upon my being done I call the girls down to settle and argument they were having and notice red marks on my 4 year old’s feet. When I ask her about the marks she immediately attempts to hide them by standing behind a wall and peering around it to talk to me. After some talking it is revealed they had found the markers and drawn on some paper in my notebook with them. Some had gotten on their hands and feet and they, as responsible as they are, had tried to wash it off. It is then we travel down to the living room where I can asses the REAL damage of their misadventure only to find red Sharpie marks on the couch! Strike Two. For those of you who are not in the know, Rubbing Alcohol can take permanent marker out of fabric! For those of you who were in the know, I am so sorry.

Strike three happens while I am cleaning up the Sharpie mess. As I am tediously cleaning the marks off the couch, while my very hungry, baby boy is crawling/clawing and wining at me, the girls had been pretending to clean as well. They decided their books needed a good wiping down, … with the spray bottle, … full of water, … that had been sitting on the bathroom counter. *Deep Sigh* In hindsight this one is also a bit my fault. I had noticed the spray bottle too close to the edge of the counter earlier in the day and thought “That is strange, I should move that so the girls don’t get into it.”. Did I move it? No, no I did not. Did I have bigger fish to fry that caused such thing to never be thought of again? Yes, yes I did.

I am not a perfect mother, obviously. My children are not perfect angels, clearly. There is not a person out there who can claim either one of those things to be true. It is days like today though that remind me how imperfect everything is and how grateful I am I have been forgiven of ALL my sins. My verse of the day seems to sum up my day quite nicely. 1 John 1:9 says “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness”. This is not a get out of jail free card to do whatever I want. I strive to do and be what God wants me to be everyday and I fall short a lot. Everyone does. Because of God’s love for us we can go to Him every time we fail, tell him what we did wrong and ask for His forgiveness. Every time He will forgive. This truth helps me put days like today in perspective and know better days are yet to come.

The day started out like any other day.
